Monday Musings

Where is your writing space?
I went to my local writer's group meeting and before we left one of the guys stopped me and asked, "where is your writing space?"

It really made me think.  Usually I write on the couch, but that can be very hard especially when my husband and dog are around.  I have a full-time job, plus a lot of extra-ciricular activities like volley ball, sorority alum stuff, and of course being a home owner and doing all the projects that takes place with that.  Needless to say it's hard to sit at home and write when I have so much other stuff to do.

MY PAPER HEART takes place in Louisiana and whenever I think about my story, I would love to put my place back at a cafe in the french quarter.  The picture above is taken from the steps near the famous Cafe Du Monde, but unfortunatley there is nothing like that in Central Illinois.  I could sit at the local Starbucks or Barnes and Noble (which I have), but it just doesn't feel the same.  I wrote the book between my couch, bed, and the car, but to go through and write the second books is coming a little bit harder.  So my musing for this week is my search a 'writing' space.  Whether I make my guest room look like a New Orleans cafe or I may be able to find a place in Bloomington, but for this week my muse is to find my writing space.

So where is your writing space?  What do you do to set the mood for your writing?

  1. I like the new layout! :)

And I don't really have much of a writing space either. I usually just sit in a big chair in the living room or on my bed with my laptop balanced in my lap. :/

You should leave me a comment. It would probably make me smile and then I will probably comment back. Unless you are a spambot. Then I will probably just ignore you.
