Let's just fall in love again

Okay, this is about falling in love with your story.

I had a WIP that I started before How to Date an Alien was published called Spliced. I hadn't worked on it awhile because I was busy with How to Date an Alien and then How To Break Up With an Alien. Since Book 2 is done and Book 3 is really moving along, I decided to pick up Spliced again.

And let me tell you it's like falling in love with the story all over again.

It feels like we haven't seen eachother and now I'm catching up with an old friend. As I write these characters I can't help but fall in love with them over again. Like Jason says, "It' so easy we don't need to pretend."

I don't need to pretend I just met these characters, I can fall in love with them all over again just from that little break. With writing an outline I know exactlly what is going to happen to them, but even with an idea these characters still surprise me and keep me on the edge of my seat.

I do love Ace and Alex, but Pacey and Rowen are so giving them a run for their money. I know, of course, the same thing is going to happen when book three comes around, but until then I'm just going to keep falling in love with these characters again and again.

Do you fall in love with your characters over and over again? How do you come back to an old WIP?  And no...unfortunatley none of the characters in Spliced or the alien books look like Jason *lesigh* I guess I will have to write a book for him too, don't tell Mr. Lambert!

Project Castro

The most platonic obsession in the history of obsessions...

So I like doing interviews and I like Jason Castro, so it made me think...

About Jason Castro singing and me running my fingers through his dreadlocks..

*Ahem*

I mean, uhhhhhhhhhhhh.....

Anyway...

Project Castro has begun.  My goal is to somehow get an interview with Jason Castro that may or may not involve him singing.  (I would LOVE for that even if it is through Skype).  So Project Castro will follow me as I try and get an interview with Jason Castro and maybe a song or some dread lock feeling.

So day 1:  Project Castro

If you have any way to contact the dread locked wonder boy then you should really let me know...  If you do then I will bake you a cake or something fun!

**Note I am a married woman and have no interest on doing anything with Jason Castro other than hearing him sing and feel his dreadlocks.  Thus it's the most platonic obsession.

The song that started it all...

There was this idea that played in my head of using a Sicilian girl character whose parent's owned a Pizzeria.  The story mulled and mulled, even while I was on my honeymoon...then a certain Mr. Castro song wouldn't get out of my head.

And here is one of the best things about being a writer:  If I find someone attractive it's completely okay for me to fawn over him as long as it's for my writing purposes.  So thus I wanted my character to fall for someone that looked like Jason Castro.  (And just look at those blue eyes, *gush*)

But a regular girl falling for a singer? SO overdone.  Then I watched a Jim Breuer special and the one thing I remember him from was on Saturday Night Live when he did a skit as the stoner snowboarders from the Olympics.

A snowboarder + Sicilian girl = SOLD.

I knew I wanted the girl to look a certain way...

I am aware that this is Lisa Loeb and I am aware that she is older than a seventeen year old girl, but I like the whole pageboy cut and glasses look.  I think it's cute and I could totally see it on a Sicilian girl.  (Yes, in case you are wondering I am Sicilian.  Well half my dad's from the south...so it kind of makes sense when you look at my characters.)

I added a mean girl from the beginning and decided that I didn't want the blonde cheerleader, so I made her Asian and play an instrument.  Somehow it's working...don't ask questions.

2K in and we'll see how my vomit draft turns out.
