Teaser Tuesday

With the new year approaching I bet you all wonder what I've been working on?

Well I guess it's time for #TeaserTuesday to return on the blog, ey?

Maybe with some photo teasers that we all love to hate?

WELL YOU'RE GETTING THEM ANYWAY!

Ready to get Wild? Book three in the Forever Wild serial is coming! The cover reveal is the 6th and you can sign up for that now! I don't have the official blurb because Inkslinger doesn't seem to want to take "Sexy stripper point of view with sex" as the final blurb, so I have to think of something else. The tentative release date is January 16th, but I get trigger happy and it could be out earlier :)

Add it to your GoodReads now and if you want to know exactly when my books come out you can sign up for my newsletter on the side there and get an email when they come out.

This is the mafia book that I've been talking about AND did the cover shoot with my model friend Steven. I had almost half of this written and then decide that it was going to be written entirely from his point of view so I scraped it. I will have a new blurb up for you all shortly and put it on GoodReads (maybe by next teaser Tuesday) and the link for cover reveal sign-ups because Sarah Hansen (with Okay Creations!) will be starting on the cover shortly!

And the one a lot of you have been waiting for. On Paper Wings. The continuation of My Paper Heart. It's been on GoodReads for awhile, but it will finally be out this summer and the official blurb will be up soon!

What books are you looking forward to the most? Any more teasers you want to see next week?

Teaser Tuesday

I haven't done one of these in awhile, so thought I'd reward you all with three teasers from my next three books coming out this year. This includes the first teaser for Off the Market!

You can add all of these books to your GoodReads and it looks like you all have a lot to look forward to for the rest of 2013 :)

Blaine's POV

I promised that if My Paper Heart made the top 100 free on Amazon I would post a scene from Blaine's POV. Well it did and then I got busy with edits on The Only Exception.

I know. Bad Magan.

But since you all waited so patiently I decided that I would finally reward you by writing Blaine and Libby's first meeting from Blaine's POV. And Of course...a gif...  (Note:  This is unedited, first draft, and contains fowl language because um...duh it's nineteen year old boys talking)

(Gifs source)

"Come on Crabtree, you can't tell me you still think LSU is going to pull through this season." Butch Sinclair chugged the last of his beer and then threw it on the floor.

It felt like we did the same thing every single night: went to Jacksons' parents' place, drank, and then Butch and Jackson argued with me about LSU. Not like there was much else to do in Smalltown USA. We either hung out at the trailer and some random girl took me into her backseat, or I stayed home and thought about all the fuck ups I had.

I laughed. "And you really think Ole Miss can do shit? You're crazy."

"Crazy as that night you did Layla Duggar in the church parking lot?" Jackson elbowed me in the side and both him and Butch cackled like two hyenas in heat.

Once they were done with their laughing fit Butch looked up and his eyes practically bugged out of his head like a cartoon character. "I see something I'd like to bang in any parking lot."

My eyes trailed up, way up a pair of long, tanned legs to what Butch was staring at. Or should I say who. I'd never seen the girl before and I would have known, not only is Elsbury tiny, but she was the most beautiful girl I'd ever seen. She was wearing nothing but a short skirt and a tiny white tanktop that hugged every inch of her curves. Long, blonde curls traveled down her back and all I could think about was running my fingers through it while she wrapped those legs around me.

Then it was as if time stopped. Her chocolate brown eyes locked on mine and it was as if everyone else in the room disappeared and it was just me and those eyes. It sounds cheesy as Hell, but right there it was if I saw my future with her. She wasn't just another girl I wanted to bang, but I wanted to talk to her. Buy her flowers. Take her to meet my mom. And have her be the one walking down the aisle toward me. People tell me love at first sight is just a crock of shit, but when I saw those eyes I knew they were wrong.

She broke our stare down, biting her bottom lip and looking at the floor before Jackson's sister and Dee Badeaux's granddaughter, Brittany, started talking to her again. They were like two hens in a hen house flapping around her.

"Who is that?" I glanced at Butch who was licking his lips and straightening out his trucker cap.

But it was Jackson who answered. "That's Dee Badeaux's nice, Libby Gentry. She failed out of college so her parents sent her down here to get some southern learning and straighten her out."

"I'd like to straighten her out with my dick." Butch clicked his teeth, staring at her like she was a piece of meat.

I opened my mouth to say something, but then the beginning of "Pour some sugar on me" poured through the speakers. Butch's jaw practically dropped to the floor and I followed his gaze. There was Libby, swaying her body to the beat of the music and trying to pull Brittany along with her. She moved her long legs to the floor and back up again. Her ass practically staring me in the face. I felt my jeans tighten. The girl could definitely move.

"Well, it looks like it shouldn't be too hard to do that. Looks like I'm getting lucky tonight." Butch wiped his mouth.

I couldn't let him try. I couldn't let  him spoil the one ray of sunshine I thought could possibly poke into my life. I had to get to her first. And not let her end up being another conquest of any other guy. I knew at that moment I wanted Libby Gentry to be mine.

"The Hell you are." I shot up from the couch and ran over to the blonde goddess. Her back was to me, but I could already smell her shampoo or perfume. Whatever it was it smelled like summertime: sunshine and strawberries, and I had to adjust myself again before I grabbed onto her arm and stopped her dancing. If I didn't end up with her that night, I didn't want anyone else to. The moment I met her, I fell in love with her and if I had to make her hate me first, then so be it.

"What the Hell do you think you're doing?"

Teaser Tuesday

(Yeah Colton Haynes was a little bit of my visual inspiration for Trey)

Since it's less than a month from the release of The Only Exception and author Emma Hart begged for it, I decided to give you a little teaser for the book.

Just a LITTLE one...OKAY and a gif to go with it.

***

He laughed, softly. His laughter was low and deep and had a playful edge to it, like his voice. There was something about the slight teasing tone to it that made me listen to him. "Then I wouldn't have anything to talk to her about. She would just agree with everything I said. I like talking to a girl who challenges me and just doesn't accept what I say at face value."

I tried not to, but a large smile spread across my face. Even though some of the topics infuriated me, it was the most alive I’d felt in months. Normally when I tried to talk politics with people they just rolled their eyes at me. Trey kept talking and kept challenging me. It was like I’d finally been able to crawl out of the hole I’d been buried in, even if I knew I would probably go back to it.

"I'll think about it."

"Think about it?"

I looked up from the ground and met his eyes. In the light they were even greener than the first time I saw him. They were like two sparkling emeralds, and they hypnotized me to my spot. "I do have a mind of my own to think if I want to see someone again," I stammered, trying to regain control of my words.

"Well, Miss Remy, you're going to see a lot of me whether you like it or not. We're still neighbors."

"You do have a point there, Mr. Chapman."

Teaser Tuesday: The Only Exception

I promised once The Only Exception got 100 people adding it to their TBR on GoodReads I'd post a teaser. That happened in a day! It took me a little longer to post because I wanted to get the right teaser. It's a little longer and hasn't gone to the editor yet, but hopefully it will  keep you wanting more.

*********

"Hanging out at the place I left you and waiting for my return?"
I opened one eye, looked to my left, and saw Trey standing in the doorway with one hand on his hip and the other leaning against the door frame. Ugh, just who I wanted to see.
"No." I opened both eyes and pushed off the door. "Just heading to get some dinner and groceries."
"That didn't look like what you were doing." He pulled away from the door frame and took slow, meticulous strides over to me. "But if you were waiting for me to ask you to dinner, I'd be happy to oblige."
He was so close that I could inhale his exquisite scent. He smelled like the cologne they have samples of in men's fashion magazines, but keep locked up in department stores. Part of me wanted to pull him against me and take in all of his glorious aroma. But the bigger part of me knew better than to try anything with the senator's son.
"No thanks. I think I can handle this one solo. I know you conservatives aren't big on women going out on their own, but I swear I can handle myself." I turned away from him, sliding my purse higher on my shoulder.
Before I could make it even two steps, he was right next to me. "I'm just trying to help out the new girl around here. I don't mind making you feel more welcome, no matter who you are voting for in the next election."
I turned to face him. I wanted to say something snarky in return, but when I saw the pleading behind his bright green eyes I instantly felt like my knees were about to give out. I had to stand my ground. I didn't transfer to meet a new boyfriend. I transferred to get away and that was exactly what I needed to do. "I'm going to have to decline."
"Can I get a rain check, then?" he asked, running a hand through his hair. I could just see his muscles flinch through his white dress shirt. For a brief moment my thoughts wondered to how much he worked out and what he would possibly look like without the white, starched shirt.
"Maybe," I muttered before I turned around and ran through the exit to the stairwell. The only sound left was the thumping of my own heart in my chest. There was no way I was going to go on a date with any guy, especially not the senator’s son. No matter how cute he was.

Teaser Tuesday: Deleted Scene from How to Marry an Alien

For various reasons, this scene was cut. It was a good one, but it just didn't end up being needed. I did have to change some of the context for spoilers, but I hope you all enjoy a little mekking out, alien style.

He walked over and draped the blanket over my shoulders and wrapped it tightly around me before placing a kiss on my forehead. "Sorry, this isn't exactly as comfortable for you"

"I bet I know a way that you can warm me up." I spread my arm out to the side, opening the blanket like a giant cape. "Want to join me in this blanket?"

He grinned, taking a step forward so that his body was flushed with mine. I wrapped my arms around his neck, leaning his face down toward mine and trailing feather-like kisses up his prominent jawline.

"I don't know if that is going to help you warm up," Ace whispered. "But this might." Slowly, he slid his fingerless gloves off and pressed his hands on the small of my back. The warmth beat from his hands and all through my body. I gasped at the sudden rush of heat.

"I think there are other things that could help as well." I moved my face back to his and pressed my lip against his. His tongue glided across mine, warming up every corner of my mouth like hot chocolate.

I pushed against his body, walking him backwards until we fell on his bed. I moved my legs over so that I was straddling him, my hips flushed against his. He pushed the blanket off of me before pulling me down so that I was laying on him, his tongue twirling beyond my lips.

He may have said 'no' in my dorm room, but there was no way he could say no at that moment. I moved my hands from his neck to the pearl snap buttons on his shirt. Slowly, I undid the first one. He didn't stop kissing. And the next one and the next one until his shirt was completely undone and only his temperature control suit separated us.

I'd seen him enough in just the temperature control suit to know that didn't matter to him if I got down to that barrier. The few times I did sleep in his bed at Circe he wore nothing more than boxer shorts, so surely he wouldn't mind if I helped him get into his bedtime apparel.

Slowly, I reached for the suits zipper, sliding it down to feel his rippled, cold skin underneath. I let my fingers linger along each one of his abdominal muscles, like a perfect statue beneath my fingers.

He let out a low moan, hopefully from my touch. I continued unzipping, reaching the point where the top of his boxers met his skin before he stopped kissing and shot his hand in front of his crotch.

I lifted my head up and looked down at him. His eyes were closed and his face was scrunched up as if he were in pain. "No, Alex."

"You were enjoying it just a second ago…"

He shook his head and zippered his suit back up before he opened his eyes. They were blacker than any night sky, and he looked as if I'd just stabbed him. "I know, but we can't do this. Not yet."

I sat up, maneuvering myself until I was sitting next to him on the bed. "Then why did you ask me to spend the night if you didn't want that?"

"You've spent the night dozens of times. Just because I want to lie next to you, doesn't mean I want to do it in the coital sense," Ace said.

"Okay." I let out a sigh. "I guess I can live with that. Better than going back to my dorm and facing reality."

"So I'm just the substitute for your roommate?" Ace arched his brows high on his forehead.

I winced. Why would he make a comment like that? I already got turned down, no use in making it worse. But I shrugged it off and put on a smile.

"But a very cute substitute." I tapped my finger on his nose.

"You are something else, Princess." He shook his head, grinning from ear to ear.

With a few more words, I slid next to him in his bed. We both stayed fully dressed and not another word was said about what could have happened. Or more like what I wished had happened.

I wanted to know why he kept refusing. Was there something else in the rule books that said we couldn't be together in that sense? I knew we'd broke the rules before, but maybe this was one that he just wasn't ready to break…yet.

Teaser Tuesday

So...I've been a little busy lately with you know trying to get my house up for sale, working, having a baby, oh and did I mention that I FINISHED the edits for the agent that requested them?  Oh yeah... MY PAPER HEART is no long a crossover YA romance, but a contemporary women's fiction!  *fistpump* er...kind of a fist pump...

So without further ado the line that completely changed my main character, Libby, from my first thought of her as a sorority girl with issues to what she really became; a young woman looking for acceptance anywhere she could find it until she found out the one person she needed it from was herself....and SCENE

"I'm going for a run…" I mumbled, defeated as I sprang from the table, not even bothering to look back as I slipped into my shoes and ran out the front door and down the cobblestone driveway.

Running was a sure fire way to get rid of my problems. I literally felt like I was running nowhere, with nowhere to go and no one to be waiting for me. I ran every morning with my pledge class to make sure that I made weekly weigh ins, I ran as quickly as I could through my notes before a test hoping that I would actually be able to remember something on a test, and on that last night of finals I just happened to run into my boyfriend going down on my roommate.

Maybe running wasn't such a bad thing after all. If I ran to Louisiana then maybe I could run away from everything back home and just forget about Chicago. Forget that I had no place else to go.

Thoughts?  Opinions?

Teaser Tuesday

So here is your teaser...

I have an interview with a VERY amazing author coming up on Friday...

I have fan girled out beyond fangirlisim...

I have two fulls and two partials out, so I dont' want to tease on the current MS  (thought I am debating on more fluff, so I continue to mull.  If you want to read it to tell me if I need it just let me know!)

For a teaser you can also go to Miss Snark's first victim page and check me out!  I'm in the secret agent contest and well if you know my manuscript name then you can find it :)

Okay, Okay if you insist you can have an unedited teaser of my vomit draft of the new WIP, IMPERFECT.

I slid down onto the concrete, trying to ignore the smell that was coming from the dumpsters. This always happened to me. Kristy Qin got everything: first chair flute, student council president, and now Jay Morningstar.
I tried my hardest not to cry, but my eyelashes were getting heavy with the frozen tears. I had to take my glasses off to start peeling the little ice cubes off of my lashes.
“It’s a little cold to be hanging outside by the dumpsters, don’t you think?”

That is all for now.  It's a vomit draft, so yeah.

I decided against sci-fi for now.  Yes, sorry, the alien story has been put aside.  It's actually alot harder to write than I thought and I'm not sure how many Sci-fi novels that I can crank out.  But contemporary romance from a teen perspective?  Let's just say I already cranked out 5K in two days, so it's coming alot more organically.

Teaser Tuesday

So...for this addition of Teaser Tuesday I am doing something a bit differant.  As you know, I'm writing an alien novel.  Well I've written three differant beginnings.  My husband likes one and I'm teetering on the other two.  So for this Teaser Tuesday I need your help!  I'm going to post the first page of my three differant beginnings (I've only really only wrote about 5 pages for each) and you all vote for one!  Let the helping start!  (Anotherh note:  These are all first drafts and have not been checked for grammar, spelling, or punctuation.)

Option #1 (they are in order of when I wrote them as well)

The first day of summer vacation should always be spent sleeping in NOT waking up at the butt crack of dawn to get to the airport. Unfortunately that's exactly what I am doing. While other seventeen year olds are curled up in their beds and dreaming of burning all of their textbooks I am shoved into the backseat of my mom's Geo, which smells like fast food and cigarettes.

"I still don't understand why I have to sit in the back or why Brian even has to come with." I mumbled crossing my arms across my chest.

"You know I get car sick." My annoying half brother screeched in his annoying overly nasally voice. "And I have sweet grades, so mom doesn't have to send me to Mexico to work."

Okay I wasn't going to Mexico, but it might as well have been. New Mexico, why is it even called that anyways? I had only been there one other time to visit my dad and there really wasn't anything new about it.

Since I was a soon to be high school senior with mediocre grades and my only extra ciricular activities being blogging and World of Warcraft, well that didn't exactly look the best on college applications. So, basically, my dad hooked me up with an internship at the air force base that he works at to sort of pad my college applications, or to punish me for spending more time in the cyber world than the real world, either way, I was not happy.

Option #2

Some girls have all the luck and some girls are stuck spending their summer in the middle of the desert. I'm definitely the latter of the two.

As I sit in the Roswell international airport I can't help but wonder why I agreed to this arrangement.

A summer internship with the Air Force aeronautical claims division. Doesn't that just sound riveting?

"But think how good it will look on your college applications!" My mom gushed.

Her husband, or the man droid with a bad toupee, didn't even look up from his blackberry to respond to her. He was probably happy to get rid of me for the whole summer. All he ever did was complain about how much time I spent on the computer, which I think he was just jealous that I have more blog followers than he does, and build model race cars. I don't know how my mom could stand him.

"I have enough to put on college applications." I sighed swirling her pathetic attempt of spaghetti noodles with my fork.

"Yeah I don't think your sappy blog posts count as something to put on a college application." My half brother, Jordan, snorted, pushing up his glasses as he did so. I swear, for only being twelve he's half way to being the most know it all person in the world and probably tied for person being allergic to the most household objects.

Option #3

If you would have told me, at the beginning of that summer, that I would come face to face with death all because of a Romeo and Juliet romance, I would have never believed you. Especially since that summer started out with so much heartache.

“Your mom told me about Vassar.”

I watched as the Phoenix Sky Harbor airport started to fade away in the background. The blazing heat waves made it look like it was literally melting into the sand.

"Being waitlisted isn't so bad. I mean it's not like they rejected you." My dad glanced sideways at me. Something had changed in him since I saw him last. Okay so it had been seven years since I'd seen him, but somehow he looked different like he had been waged in a difficult war, one that still haunted him, but barely lived to tell the tale.

"Saying that you liked my haircut or even asking what I've been up to may have been a better intro." I scoffed, watching the cactus disappear in the rearview mirror instead of meeting his gaze.

He sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose. "I'm just trying to let you know that I'm here for you, Sofie."

I wanted to laugh, but instead I did what every good teenager does, put in my earbuds and zoned him out. I had no idea how far it would be till we got to my dad's air force base, but I didn't want to be stuck telling him my entire life story before we even got there.

"You know, Sofie, this internship is one of the best in the country. Once Vassar sees it you're sure to be off the waitlist and first in line to pick out your dorm." My dad yelled, trying to drown out my music with his thick Boston accent.

(Late) Teaser Tuesday

There are worse things in life than failing out of college- such as having your parents receive the letter that youve been kicked out.

Now to appease her parents, self-proclaimed sorority princess Libby Gentry is packing up her Prada bad and heading to work for her great aunt's newspaper in tiny Elsbury, Louisiana. She's pretty sure she can tackle the swamp and deal with her great aunt and tomboy of a little cousin, but what she doesn't know is if she can handle is the local town playboy Blaine Crabtree. Throughout the roller coaster ride of young love, Libby and Blaine take every twist and turn from a bar brawl with an ex, crazy co-workers with orthopedic shoes, jealous little cousins and run-ins with the law. Can their relationship survive Blaine's reluctance to say the L-word, and when he finally says it, it may be too late.

That would be your teaser for MY PAPER HEART.  Still on submission.  A rejection today did get me down, but I got to keep on going.  I talked to a friend today and she put it this way, "It's kind of like having a child.  I mean there is alot of work and sacrafice that goes into it, but in the end it's worth it."

Now granted I actually don't know if I can physically have children, but it does make sense.  MY PAPER HEART is like my first born.  I love this manuscript so freaking much that it's insane, and it truly does just take one agent to love it as much as I do.

I'm also freaking out because I forgot THE MOST IMPORTANT PART of a query the other day...the salutation.  Oh yeah the "Dear Ms. Agent."  I feel like a big doof.  I do have a little personalized blurb at the bottom, but ughhhhh.  I feel like I should send something and be like "Hey I'm sorry that I forgot that, I feel horrible."  We'll see when and if I do it.

In other news...I'm bummed about the rejection so I can't sleep and I need to sleep because work is busy.

Enjoy my teaser...give advice...find me an agent...

xoxo

Teaser Tuesday

So I wanted to do something a bit different for a “Teaser Tuesday.” Usually I would give a little excerpt of a WIP, but since my WIP is kind of on the shelf write now and I don’t want to give out too much info on my MS on submission I thought I would give you a little playlist…

So if you haven’t seen the contest (which really only two people have entered, so if you enter now you have a pretty good shot for one of three prizes) you will see that one of the prizes is The Glee music CD. One of the questions asked was Why that CD and why a CD at all? Well if you haven’t noticed how much I enjoy the show Glee and have constantly talked about it in this blog then you have surely missed out. But the next part, why the music? Well it’s kind of my little cure for writer’s block and for how to focus. I go to Pandora and I have my own station entitled “MY OWN SUMMER” (the original title of my MS), I put in one artist and it started playing similar artists and songs. From there I would mark what I like and what I didn’t like. As I worked on the manuscript I would listen to that music and it would just remind me of certain scenes or one song lyric would just bring up a whole new chapter. I actually suggested this to a guy at a RWA meeting and he said that it worked really well for him!

So, there are a few of you who have read my MS (now titled MY PAPER HEART), there will be no other copies going out though since I do have a few agents with partials and fulls and I want to respect that. BUT for this little Teaser Tuesday I’m going to list off ten of the songs on my play list and say how they coincided with my MS or a certain scene. (P.S. Yes there is a lot of country…it does take place in the south)

1.) Only prettier – Miranda Lambert
The song is all about being “saved by the grace of southern charm,” so needless to say my character pretty much engulfed in that southern charm.
2.) I never told you-Colbie Colliat
My main character and her love interest had a pretty big roller coaster of a relationship and I could just imagine this song playing after one of their many fights. Well that and the love interest has great blue eyes.

3.) Cowboy Cassanova- Carrie Underwood
Let’s just say that the love interest has a bit of a playboy reputation and there again “a snake with blue eyes,” but he’s not a snake…well he sort of is…ignore me now…
4.) God bless the broken road- Rascall Flatts
The ultimate country love song! Two star-crossed lovers, roller coaster of a relationship with rocky pasts from each? Hello Rascall Flatts lyrics!
5.) Home – Michael Buble
“Another summer day has come and gone away.” That’s the line that started the whole last fifty pages of the book and really made it take off.
6.) Pour some sugar on me – Def Leppard
Let’s just say that the main character may or may not dance to this song that will spur a chain of events.
7.) Hell on the heart- Eric Church
a. Just hearing this song makes me think of my main character. Except that she’s not very bright so the whole “every bit as funny as she is smart” line is a little off…
8.) Picture to burn-Taylor Swift
a. “I hate that stupid old pick-up truck you never let me drive.” Those lyrics somehow just made me want the love interest to drive a big old red pick-up truck and to want to drive everywhere…don’t ask questions…
9.) Ladies love country boys – Trace Adkins
a. “A wild eyed boy with a farmer’s tan” This song is soooo my main character and her love interest. Just every word describes the love interest.
10.) Boondocks- Little big town
a. First off…just saying “That I was born and raised out in the boondocks.” These lyrics just describe the little town that this story took place in and it just makes me smile…

So that was my play list and I hope by listening to it you can kind of imagine what my MS is about and hope you enjoy.

Do you have a play list for your MS? How does music affect your writing or every day life?
